A relay is a network data aggregators within the AT Protocol. These servers crawl Personal Data Servers (PDSes) with the purpose of indexing, aggregating, and broadcasting change events to user repositories via a firehose. Firehose data streams are "locked open", and can be consumed by any actor within the network. Relays are queried by AppViews to fetch user data to serve users. Relays provide centralized access points to consume network activity in either the entire network or a particular subset of the network.
